A Positive, Pro-Active Approach To Conflict and Intimacy

My approach to therapy is much more than just talk.  It focuses on making your life better in the most effective, efficient way possible.  It is based on the most current research, it makes sense to my clients, and it is always designed to fit each person’s personal strengths, needs and resources. My clients typically walk out of my office with a more positive view of their relationships and greater understanding of what they need to do to make their lives better.

Marriage & Couples Counseling

Serious problems in marriage need direct, focused solutions. But bringing positive interaction into marriage and helping each partner to realize the good in the other can also have dramatic effects.

A marriage is strong when a couple can confidently say that they are friends and partners. And being lovers makes it even better. But that rarely happens when you don’t have the first two. Thus, I view marriage counseling as friendship-building.

Sex and Intimacy

A lack of intimacy and sex in marriage can make a person feel helpless and hopeless. But this problem can often be solved by targeted interventions.

Some sex therapists have given sex therapy a bad name. I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist first, a couples counselor second, and an AASECT-Certified sex therapist third. I specialize in working with couples with mis-matched sex drives. I use an evidence-based, problem-solving approach that gives equal weight to the needs of both partners.  We set goals, devise a plan, and work toward that plan with a sense of purpose. Sex and Intimacy

Some sex therapists have given sex therapy a bad name. I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist first, a couples counselor second, and an AASECT-Certified sex therapist third. Sex is not as interesting to me as clinical psychology. I specialize in working with couples with mis-matched sex drives. I use an evidence-based, problem-solving approach that favors the relationship needs of the person with the lower drive.  We set goals, devise a plan, and work toward that plan with a sense of purpose. Does Marriage Counseling Work?

Sometimes we need cheesy pictures, just so the spacing works on the website. Behavioral marriage counseling has consistently been shown to significantly improve the relationships of 70-75% of moderately to severely distressed couples.  Read more about how effective it is at preventing divorce and how couples fare without marriage counseling.
